After the raw furs have been purchased from Métis trappers, they are re-graded for quality at a warehouse in Winnipeg, then sent to a fur dressing company to get tanned. A new program has been established to help the Métis artisans. Tanned furs and leathers will be provided at no charge to the artisans to help promote the traditional Métis arts and crafts and support the cultural heritage of the Métis people. The products produced from the artisans will be bought back with profit and marketed through The Manitoba Métis Federation as “Traditional Métis made.”
The Red River Métis Marketplace is a proud affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation, The National Government of the Red River Métis.
